Robert Birch completed his apprenticeship, as a Silversmith in 1969, was a craftsman for two notable London companies in the early 70s before studying at the Royal College of Art. He set up his first workshop in Bull Yard Edenbridge Kent in 1977 and spent a significant proportion of his career also working in Design Education, before relocating his workshop to Whaplode Lincolnshire in2000
